Throughout this class, I learned a great deal about literacy and how to improve on it, as well as how to expose more children to it. Literacy is in our daily lives, so this is something that we can always work on. There are a lot of different ways to get our students more involved with literacy such as creating a simple blog site where your students can read, write, post, and discuss their feelings on a certain topic. Even if the topic is sports, reading and writing is being used and this will also keep the attention of some students who only love sports.
I know how much literacy is used in our daily lives and as a future educator, I believe that it is my duty to expose my students to as much literacy as possible so they can progress more in this area.

Day 9 Reflection
The more we talk about how important literacy is and how much it can help our youth, the more I think about how I can incorporate any type of literacy into my classroom. Everything from our 6 +1 trait writing to our Read/Think Alouds points in the direction that we need to incorporate more of these into our students' daily lives.
One way, as mentioned on the discussion board, that I plan to incorporate this into the physical education setting would be to read aloud a scenario where good and bad sportsmanship is happening. This will give the students a chance to listen to me read, make their own thoughts on the topic, and then discuss with a small group. I believe that simple examples of this type of literacy will enhance the way students look at a certain subject and be able to apply it to their lives.

First Week Reflection
So far, I have learned a great deal from this class. I thought that this would be a class that I could not incorporate much from in my Physical Education classroom, but this is not the case. Literacy applies to all students and should be incorporated in every classroom/gym setting that the student is in everyday. Since we have to read in our classes and jobs everyday, the more exposure we get to reading and writing, the better we will get at it.
Here are two articles I found that helps supporting literacy through Physical Education:

Here is a sample web diagram that could be used in the Physical Education classroom to improve literacy:
